How do I become an interesting person?

Hello, my friend! How are you? If you're out of time or "in a rush", go to the last paragraph of this text for a fast answer.

In times of immediate responses and connection 24 hours a day, talking about long-term transformation is a risk! But… we believe you can (and must!) dream big, and make a daily effort to get better every day. This is our mission - seeing you speaking English and being a Leader wherever you go. "The 5 Essential People Skills" was written by Dale Carnegie and its goal is to improve your people skills. In other words, to improve your relationships at work and at home.

Last class we started talking about being interested, instead of being curious. The first rules were:

1- Call people by name: it's the sweetest sound to anyone's ears;

2- Admit when you're wrong: recognizing your mistakes is an honorable act, since so few people do so;

3- Hold people to high standards: believing a man encourages him to do his best not to disappoint;

4- Show sincere interest: everyone you meet has a rich history of interests and experiences.

Dale Carnegie keeps talking about these communication rules so you become an interesting person, someone people like to spend time with. Let's see our next 7 steps now:

5- Offer praise: be specific in your praise and show you're aware of the other person's attitudes;

6- Keep your word: your credibility hangs heavily on your word;

7- Show your gratitude: thank the person and offer to do something in return;

8- Be considerate: think before you talk;

9- Give of yourself: help others with their tasks;

10- Be humble: your achievements will gain approval if they're told by someone else;

11- Help others save face: everyone makes blunders and it's not the end of the world.

By being interested in the other person. Dale is telling us to pay attention in the other person by asking questions, recognizing their strengths, helping when they need.
